2008 Jan 18-21 Exotic New Orleans

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." - John 3:36
In New Orleans, We Live To Eat
We visited New Orleans on Martin Luther King Junior's Day. It was a 6-hour drive per way, but it was definitely worth it!
The French Quarter is really charming. It is full of elegant and exquisite architecture. It is a mix of the old world and new world, with very vibrant restaurants and lounges.

Bourbon Street is filled with great eateries and cafes. However, the very liberal culture is something that I would rather not have.

The Garden District is also very pleasant with beautiful historical and antebellum houses ... got some ideas for my future place!

Another interesting attraction in New Orleans is 'The City Of The Dead' (cemetry) where the tombs are above the ground, making it looks like a city. It is really neat, although a little spooky!

Breakfast at Brennan's has been a great experience. The Egg Hussarde and Banana Fosters were great ... but it was really costly - Bill, thanks for the recommendation! The beignets at Cafe DuMont tastes delicious too! Overall, in New Orleans, you live to eat!

The Mississippi River is large, but not quite the color I've expected it to be. But it was really neat to see the SteamBoat Natchez rolling up and down the Mississippi River.

New Orleans is equally charming at night ... there is a number of Jazz cafes and lounges. Managed to see a mini Mardi Gras Parade. I was disappointed at the lack of costumes and people were merely walking through with lewd ideas. I had to cover my Sonya's eyes as they passed (Ethan was asleep ... thank God).
Overall, I'll recommend a 2 to 3 days visit to this beautiful and charming city. If you are bringing little ones, just cover their eyes in some of these places.
