2000 Aug 5 Elephant Butte Lake
Weekend visit to New Mexico Farmers Market at Las Cruces, New Mexico
Enroute to Elephant Butte Lake, NM with my Austrian and French coursemates.
Elephant Butte Dam was constructed in 1911-1916. It was the largest structure in the United States to impound water in the largest man-made reservoir at that time.
306 feet high and 1,674 feet long retaining a reservoir that covers approximately 36,000 acres.
