2008 May 21 We Love Tallahassee

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." - John 16:33
Tom Brown Park - Voted Best American Park

Today, we went to Tom Brown Park - voted Best American Park! It is only 5 minutes away from Polos On Park, but we had not gone there yet. There are two playgrounds ... we went to the new playground today. It is huge and fun ... and Sonya and Ethan had fun climbing the rope pyramid.

Ethan was comfortable where he was ...

... but Sonya climbed all the way to the top!

Sonya continued to practice snorkelling in Polos' pool (after her initial experience at the Grand Cayman). She is getting good at it!

Sonya's Playdate

Sonya had her first playdate with her classmate, Jessica at our house. They had the playroom all to themselves. Look at their face. They must had great fun!

Ethan's Last Day At Wesson School

30 May 2008 was Ethan's last day of school at Wesson School. We were sad that he had to leave Wesson School and attend kindergarten in another school (because Wesson School does not offer kindergarten classes). Ethan really did great in school and had learned a great deal in school this year. Special thanks to all his great teachers!

"He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."- John 15:2
We Love Spring In Tallahassee
The tiny white flowers were gone and our tree turned fully green again (after only less than 2 months of baldness). Despite my heavier school workload and internship this semester, we still had much fun at the parks, pools, ... and I never did realize how beautiful the Florida State Capitol Building was, even though I passed by the intersection of Monroe and Apalachee Parkway everyday.
We continued to be spoilt by Michele's cooking ... look at this yummy kway teow soup!
In a few weeks time after the end of Spring semester, we will be touring New England and New France (French Canada). We are looking forward to that.

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." - John 10:11
Pollens & Flowers ... It Is Spring Time!
It was a phenomena! Everywhere was covered with fine yellow powder this week ... our car, balcony, beach chairs, etc. These were pollens! It was the sign that Spring had come! Within a week, our bald tree was suddenly full of tiny white flowers! This whiteness remained for about 2 weeks before tiny green leaves started to bud.

Beautiful Myers Park
Parks in Tallahassee were the most gorgeous during this time of the year. Beautiful flowers everywhere ... Myers Park was a good park for the kids - we played soccer, threw balls, played catch, and there was a big playground too! Even squirrels came out to play!

Betton Hills Preparatory School
Sonya and Ethan also had many fond memories at Betton Hills Preparatory School's playground every Wednesday and Friday.

Healthy Lifestyle
We had all kinds of food - from Prawn Mee Soup to Mexican Tortilla! Thank you dear. You are the best chef in Tallahassee!
But we also exercised ... tennis, cycling, etc.

Big Catch At Maclay State Park
We went fishing at Maclay State Park on 29 Mar 2008. This beautiful park is located north of Thomasville Road, just beyond I-10 at the fringe of Tallahassee. The catch was good ... even Ethan caught a small fish with a net.

"Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."" - John 6:35
Our Tree Is Bald

By this time of winter, our tree had dropped all its leave and became completely bald. We had a lot of fun doing stuffs at our balcony - painting, reading, tea time, etc. We had a few gathering and celebration this month.

Chinese New Year In Tallahassee

Although we were all not back home in Singapore for Reunion Dinner, Chinese New Year in Tallahassee was equally cozy and warm. We each had our Reunion Dinner at our own home, but we came together for a wonderful Chinese New Year Steamboat Dinner (except for Jason, who he went back to Singapore). Look at the spread we had ... we did not miss a bit from home! Thanks to all the ladies.

We invited Bill, Liza (and Billy and Zoe), Jesse, Ella, and some friends over for a Chinese New Year Party at our house. The buffet spread was fantastic ... just look at all the local cuisine!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was very much celebrated in the USA by people of all ages, even in Sonya's school! Michele and I had a simple Alaskan King Crab Dinner at home after the two kids went to bed.

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" Birthday Celebration
Happy 5th Birthday, Ethan!

The theme for Ethan's 5th Birthday was Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". Michele and I arranged a Cupcake-Caterpillar in the number "5" (and other snacks) for his celebration in class at Wesson School. He had a great time in class that day!

As 18 Feb 2008 was a weekday (school day), we celebrated Ethan's 5th Birthday at home. But we planned to bring him Disney World this coming weekend, so that he could have fun enjoying all his favorite rides.

Ethan was most excited and delighted to receive his birthday present ... Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" Comforter & Bedding Set! Look at that big Sun and Caterpillar!

Happy 5th Birthday, Ethan!
